The Canoe Cruisers Association of Washington, DC will once again be offering swift water rescue classes this summer on June 7-8, July 26-27, and August 16-17. The classes are taught by ACA-certified instructors and cover the ACA swift water rescue curriculum including rescue management, rope throwing, rescue wading, z-drag haul system, knot tying, boat-to-boat rescue techniques, aggressive swimming in rapids, how to use a rescue vest, live bait rescue, strong swimmer rescue, vertical pin demonstration, mock rescue scenarios with pinned boats and victims, foot entrapment and tag line demonstration, safety gear review, and much more.
This class is for whitewater paddlers of almost all skill levels. You only have to be comfortable paddling in class 2 to take the class. And even advanced paddlers will learn something new.
You must be a member of the Canoe Cruisers to take the class (only $15), and most students make a donation of $35 to cover class costs.
